When looking for the best electric toothbrush on the market we had to take a lot of things into consideration. For example, whether or not the electric toothbrush came equipped with a two-minute timer that is important to keep people on track. We also looked at things such as the cost, how other people were liking the product and how well the toothbrush really cleaned teeth and whether or not persons were motivated to use the toothbrush.

With all of this in mind, we have decided to make the Oral-B electric toothbrush 7000 smart series our number one pick. Oral-B is dentist recommended, like many others on this list, and for good reasons. It comes equipped with all the necessary features that you would like your electric toothbrush to have alongside some additional features. Additional features such as Bluetooth connectivity that allows you to track your brushing history. You may not think this feature is important but for us, it was a great addition as it provided an added feeling of motivation to remain consistent.

Testing Of The Best Electric Toothbrush

We evaluated as much as 10 electric toothbrushes that were given to us by the top selling brands on the shelves. Brands such as Phillips, Braun, and Waterpik were all put up against one another in order to formulate this list. Oral-B was able to provide us with an electric toothbrush that spanned a lot every budget. Whilst Sonicare provided only two options one that was budget friendly and one at a higher price point.

Waterpik also sent us a few products to be reviewed for this list and even though they were mostly water flossers they also came with sonic toothbrushes.

Test Number 1: Scrubbing 20 Coffee Soaked And Stained Eggs, Battery Life ETC

Eggs were soaked in a cold brew coffee for approximately 7 days. After which they were brushed with each toothbrush. This was done in order to attempt to copy what it would be like if you were constantly drinking coffee and not stopping to brush them. Now no-one is saying that your teeth are exactly like an eggshell. Of course, we understand that your enamel has more complex properties and also stain in different ways. However, it is still a good way to judge how each brush head is able to clean and how well they clean in a similar time frame.

After the soaking process was complete we assigned each toothbrush to an egg. Every brush was made to brush in a straight line for about 30 seconds which is the recommended time frame for a single section of your mouth. We then created a side by side comparison photo to show how much of the coffee was brushed away in as short of a time as 30 seconds and what has been left behind.

It is also important to note that none of the eggs were boiled. We did this to test if the toothbrush heads were gentle enough to not break the raw egg or for your case rub off your enamel. We want our electric toothbrush to be powerful enough but also sensitive and companies have to ensure they keep this in mind when creating these toothbrushes to protect your teeth layers.

We made sure to test every toothbrush for the claims that were made by their brands to ensure they deliver on what they promised. Many of the toothbrushes not only held up to their promised but even impressed us with going above what they claimed.

Test Number 2: Does it feel Good In The Mouth?

How effective really were these toothbrushes at cleaning? We wanted to test them and we did by feel and also physical results. We used each toothbrush for 5 days and gauged how each made our mouths feel overall. While any toothbrush could make my teeth appear clean on the surface the real test came after flossing. Was there any food left over? How clean was my tongue? Did my Gum bleed or was it comfortable enough? This was all taken into consideration when choosing the best toothbrushes for this list.

Test Number 3: Battery life

Each toothbrush was Brought to a full charge and for hours on end, the button was pushed and pushed until the toothbrush finally decide to give up and die. Do keep in mind that we only included the time the toothbrush remained at full power to count each session as a clean. If the toothbrush happened to have lost power as the Oral B did then we did not count that time.

The, however, did give full power all throughout it’s time on which really made it also able to stretch longer than it advertised that it would last. All of this was taking into place to ensure that each toothbrush was given a fair chance.

Test Number 4: Features and Comfort

The last test we conducted was what exactly came with each toothbrush and how it felt overall in the hand. The number of extra brush heads that comes with it and also how it was going to be charged.

All of these things are what we’re used to narrow down this list to the top five toothbrushes that you can buy this year.

Oral-B Pro 7000 SmartSeries - BillLentis.com

Oral-B is a very popular brand and one that dentist trust and love and all for good reason. They have created a trusted name for themselves and have always been a very innovative brand all around.

It’s the ability to utilize Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone and track your brushing progress is nothing short of great. It is able to tell you what exactly you are doing wrong and what is right. Now, a few may argue that having an app for your toothbrush is very unnecessary but this feature can help you develop good habits to help you with your oral hygiene.

This toothbrush comes equipped with a total of 6 brushing modes. From Daily Clean to Gum Care, Sensitive to Whitening, DeepClean and Tongue Cleaner are the brushing modes that this toothbrush comes with. You may very rarely be switching back and forth between these modes but they are a great option to have. It also gives you the opportunity to find which one you like most.

A feature to enjoy is the fact that it is able to tell you when you’ve reached the recommended two-minute mark. 3 minutes if you’re looking for an even deeper clean. It’s even able to let you know when you’ve been brushing for too long or too hard. This can help for those who normally tend to brush away their gums which is great for your overall oral health.

The price point of $154.80 is not cheap at all but with all the features and extras that come along with it, it is definitely worth it. If you aren’t happy with the product after 60 days you can return it for a full refund.

Sonicare Diamond Clean Toothbrush by Philips – Our number Two Pick

Sonicare Diamond Clean Toothbrush - BillLentis.com
Philips has been a trusted brand for many years. They create a number of small helpful gadgets that really work. However, if you are not familiar with his world then you may not understand the difference between a sonic and a regular toothbrush. The difference is how fast they are able to generate their spins. A regular toothbrush is able to create speeds of 2,500 to 7,500 rotations a minute. However, a sonic toothbrush is able to create up to 30,000 rotations per minute. This toothbrush calms to make your teeth whiter after just one week of use.

The brush modes of this toothbrush are Clean, Sensitive, Deep Clean, Gum Care and White. With this toothbrush, you can easily go between modes with just the touch of a button. The overall style of this toothbrush is also great. The charging dock is made of glass and looks very stylish sitting on top of any counter. Its battery life can have it lasting as long as 3 weeks and if you’re going on an even more extended trip the travel case comes equipped with a USB charger to take on the go.

However, unlike the Oral-B, this electric toothbrush does not come with a pressure sensor to let you know if you’re brushing too hard. This is an important feature that we feel is important in such a high-end electric toothbrush especially because this is such a common problem. It also doesn’t come with a money-back guarantee like the Oral-B but instead has the standard two-year warranty.

Pros And Cons

The Philips comes equipped with a wireless charging cup, long battery life, and an overall great design. It also delivers good cleaning power and comes with a convent powered travel case. It is unfortunately very expensive and has no Bluetooth options for the price point.

This electric toothbrush is of great value. If your looking to purchase an electric toothbrush but don’t have a large budget this may be exactly what you’re looking for. It doesn’t, unfortunately, come with all the higher end features like the others on this list.

It does deliver everything you need to maintain a clean and healthy mouth. It does come with the ability to shoot fluid between your teeth and along the gums to more effectively remove plaque. Its design has made it easier for persons with braces and more sensitive teeth to be able to properly clean their mouths.

The smart timer is built into the brush to prevent users from over brushing and shuts off after the recommended 2-minute mark. It allows you to gradually get used to the power of the brush by allowing you to up the power after 12 uses. This electric toothbrush is one of the cheapest on this list at the price of $45.00. It’s very simple to use and easy to charge.
