Our Verdict: Razer Kraken Kitty Edition

But ultimately, this variation on the Razer Kraken did, in fact, have some merit on its own, and was by no means the lowest-scoring headset I looked at.
The fact is, this headset holds relatively high scores across the board – besides in price – and is comfortable, well-designed, and reasonably durable, despite the image that you get from its aesthetic. They say not to judge a book by its cover, and this gaming headset is surprisingly solid for it.

Performance Comparison

For me, these were:
• Value for money
• Ease of Use
• Durability/Workmanship
• Comfort
• Audio Quality
Looking at these categories in isolation and all together will give me a great idea of a headset’s general quality, where it excels, and where it falls short. Then I can write these reviews, and you can decide on the best headset for yourself!
But enough explaining – let’s see how the Razer Kitty Edition did!
1 – Value for Money

The fact is, if a headset is far outside of your budget, you’re not even going to look at it. So, in my opinion, this should always be the first factor you consider when you’re in the market for a new gaming headset.
Value For Money | Total Marks Out of 10 |
---|---|
Razer Kraken | 10 |
Razer Nari Ultimate | 10 |
Razer Blackshark v2 | 9 |
Kraken Ultimate | 8 |
Razer Kraken X USB | 8 |
Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma | 7 |
Razer D.Va | 7 |
Razer Thresher | 7 |
Razer Pink Kitty | 6 |

With its quartz pink color and molded-on kitty ears, this headset may really appeal to a specific demographic of gamers, and those aesthetics alone may justify shelling out a little extra cash for this headset. There are also nice perks like free shipping that factored in favor of this headset.
But with that said, the headset still falls short of its price tag, resulting in this unfortunate score.
2 – Ease of Use

After all, slight adjustments in comm volume, background sound effects, or your own mic’s volume can be necessary mid-game, and you want those controls at the ready.
Ease Of Use | Total Marks Out of 10 |
---|---|
Razer Kraken X USB | 10 |
Razer D.Va | 10 |
Razer Kraken | 9 |
Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma | 9 |
Razer Blackshark v2 | 9 |
Razer Pink Kitty | 9 |
Razer Nari Ultimate | 8 |
Razer Thresher | 7 |
Kraken Ultimate | 7 |
For the Kraken Kitty, this was undoubtedly the case. The volume controls were situated at a good spot on the speaker housing, so you can pretty easily change the incoming volume. This headset also didn’t suffer from any of the bizarre volume controls endemic to the Razer Thresher, so that was nice to see as well.
In many ways, this headset did represent a combination of the Razer Kraken and the Kraken Ultimate, taking some of the best features of each. In this case, the Kraken’s superior UI was a welcome inclusion.
3 – Durability/Workmanship

Durability/Workmanship | Total Marks Out of 10 |
---|---|
Razer Kraken | 9 |
Razer Pink Kitty | 9 |
Razer Thresher | 9 |
Kraken Ultimate | 9 |
Razer Nari Ultimate | 8 |
Razer Kraken X USB | 7 |
Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma | 7 |
Razer Blackshark v2 | 7 |
Razer D.Va | 6 |
In this case, the Kraken Ultimate, Kraken original, and the Kitty Edition all had the same basic workmanship. However, their features (and a solid aluminum frame) contributed to differences in weight.

As for longevity, this headset is also no slouch – many users reported owning this model for two or three years without needing a replacement.
4 – Comfort

So when you’re considering that a gamer may be sitting for three or four hours on end, you want to make sure your headset has all the amenities for a long gaming session.
Comfort | Total Marks Out of 10 |
---|---|
Razer Nari Ultimate | 10 |
Razer Blackshark v2 | 10 |
Razer Kraken | 9 |
Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma | 9 |
Razer Pink Kitty | 9 |
Kraken Ultimate | 9 |
Razer Thresher | 8 |
Razer Kraken X USB | 8 |
Razer D.Va | 7 |
The fact is, despite costing more than it should, the aesthetics (including kitty ears and RGB lighting) are the only place where Kraken really experimented on their design. The rest of this headset is the best this company has to offer, with its patented gel cooled ear cushions and solid weight distribution.
You won’t end up with neck pain after a more extended session, nor with ears that are overheating when things start to get intense. All in all, you’ll be suited up to go for about as long as you want without any issues.
5 – Audio Quality

A solid mic and good drivers are required for this category.
Audio Quality | Total Marks Out of 10 |
---|---|
Razer Thresher | 9 |
Kraken Ultimate | 8 |
Razer Kraken | 7 |
Razer Nari Ultimate | 7 |
Razer Kraken X USB | 7 |
Razer Blackshark v2 | 7 |
Razer Pink Kitty | 7 |
Razer D.Va | 7 |
Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma | 7 |
Unfortunately, it also has some of the company’s less desirable traits, including a frustratingly weak audio performance.
Starting with some good, though, this pc gaming headset does come equipped with Razer’s better audio option – background noise cancellation and the THX Spatial Audio. I’ve talked about how much I like these options in plenty of other reviews.
That said, I’ve also talked about the persistent mic issues and how poorly the voice-isolation technology works with most Razers. Only one headset – the Thresher – really solved this problem, and the Kitty falls into the same trap as the rest of the group.

Conclusion: ‘Pink’ Headset From Razer
As you can see, the Razer Kitty Edition did overperform my expectations, even if it did land near the bottom of the list. When I was first going into this list, I certainly would have predicted this headset to bring up the rear, and I was pleasantly surprised by many of its features and overall quality. So is the Razer Kitty Edition worth its cost?
Well, no. I wouldn’t say so, anyway. It’s a solid headset and a good study on everything Razer does right with a headset – and a few things it could improve as well. Its stats were all solid, but it’s hefty price tag, and poor outgoing audio ended up selling this headset short.

We’ve done the hard work testing and putting this review together – now it’s over to you to make your final choice… Were you convinced that the Kitty Edition is worth a higher price tag because of its stylish aesthetics? Or would you prefer a headset like the Kraken that’s a better bargain for its stats?
Given that you’ve read this entire review, you must be looking for a new headset. If that’s the case, I encourage you to look at some of our other options below!
